Delighana Sweet Gold pineapples
The Sweet Gold – also known as MD2 – was specially developed in the late 1980s in Costa Rica. It was designed to have a more homogenous shape and colour to better satisfy the corresponding wishes of customers. The sweet yellow flesh of the fruit and the high Vitamin C content make it highly attractive for consumers as well as being an export favourite among producers due to its long shelf-life.
Little wonder therefore that this variety has swept all before it across every continent, proving to be all but unstoppable. Its long shelf-life makes it particularly suited to sea transport.
